This is a premium model from iRobot and performs extremely well. It is able to maneuver easily across a range of different surfaces and is extremely efficient at collecting dust, dirt, and debris. It’s also extremely sturdy and looks good as well.
The S9 is the most recent model of iRobot’s top S Series line of robot vacuums and, as such, it comes with many additional features that set it apart from other models. The iRobot App can use, for instance, the camera to create maps that helps the unit navigate and clean more efficiently.
There’s no need to clean the same spots over and over again if the battery runs out. You can start and stop cleaning using an audio command, or by using the iRobot App. This smart vacuum can also clean in darkness!
Another great feature is Carpet Boost, which gives the S9 additional suction power when it comes in contact with carpeting so that it can take in more dirt and debris. The unit also has an elongated front design that gets closer to corners and walls than older round designs. This model doesn’t work well with high-pile or shag carpeting.
During our testing, we found that the iRobot S9+ cleans thoroughly and efficiently on a range of flooring surfaces, ranging from medium-pile to hard carpets and rug. It also performed well on vinyl flooring, and laminate flooring. It also did a nice job of maneuvering between furniture and objects, however it had some issues with stairs, and could accidentally hit things like bookcases.
We were impressed by the fact that the S9 automatically returns to its base to empty its dust bin when it’s full, which greatly reduces the need for hands-on maintenance. The dust bag should last for about 30 loads or a month and a half. It’s recommended to replace the filter periodically (as suggested by iRobot). Our experience suggests that the iRobot S9+ doesn’t get very loud during operation, so it’s a good choice for those who live with pets or children.
Eufy RoboVac Hybrid X8
Robot vacuum cleaners are made to take care of the dirty work for you, and can be used to clean carpet and hardwood floors. The best ones can be controlled and monitored using an app on your smartphone and some have mopping technology for kitchen and bathroom floors. They’re an excellent solution for busy families, and are becoming more affordable than ever before. However, if you want the latest features on your robotic cleaner, you’re going to be spending a little more.
The Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid vacuum and mopping machine is a fantastic option for those who live in a multi-floored apartment. Dual motors provide it with impressive cleaning power and the 0.6l dustbin can hold plenty of pet hair. The dustbin is easily removed and empty, which is great because you’ll need to do this on a regular basis.
It’s also simple to set it up, but I would recommend fully charging the X8 Hybrid prior to running it for the very first time. You’ll have to install the Eufy Home app and follow the instructions for connecting to your Wi-Fi network. After you’ve completed this, the app will help you create a precise map of your home. Rooms can be named and divide large spaces into sub-rooms (good for open plan living) and guide the X8 Hybrid to specific areas that require cleaning at the time of. Eufy’s application is more user-friendly and refined than other robots with similar scanning and mapping functions.
One of the best features on the X8 Hybrid is that you can control the vacuum or mop with your voice, thanks to the integration with Amazon Alexa or home robot vacuum Google Assistant. This is a wonderful feature that makes the robot hands-free. It worked well in our test home robot vacuum.
The X8 Hybrid, like many robotic vacuums has some issues with bare flooring. It is prone to miss pet hair and small objects, and it is prone to hit things – such as its own charger that sits on its charging base. It’s also not as quiet and the whirring noise can be distracting like other models.
Roborock V3S Pro
The robot doesn’t have as many features as some of the more expensive models we’ve tested, but it has all the essentials. It has a big enough dust bin to hold plenty of dirt before it’s empty and its vacuum and mop system is great for carpets with low pile and hard floors. It’s also super quiet and we could watch television while it was cleaning without feeling like it was blasting us with the sound.
Our test subjects were impressed with how easy it was to set up and use, and were amazed by its ability to clean all the mess out of their flooring. It did a good job getting rid of pet hair, messes, and carpeting, but it had a harder time removing stubborn stains. They found the app user-friendly and intuitive, and they were able to program the vacuum to be cleaned on a regular basis to reduce the amount they had to manually do. The only downside is that it doesn’t have any mapping technology or object avoidance, so you can’t direct it to specific rooms or follow virtual boundaries (though magnetic boundary strips work).
The V3S Pro is another model from the iRobot’s budget line. It has several impressive features for a reasonable price. It was the best robot vacuum we tested for mapping and avoiding obstacles. It’s also the best budget choice for those looking for a smarter, self-emptying robotic vacuum that is able to handle pet messes and hair on hardwood floors or low-pile carpeting. It’s also extremely quiet and has a huge dust bin that holds plenty of debris prior to when it has to empty and you don’t have to be concerned about having to empty it every time you use it.
The V3S Pro did not make it into our top choice lists of trusted sources who test hands-on, but it received high marks from Modern Castle, Smart Robot Reviews and The Ambient. They were impressed with how easy it was to setup and use, however they noted that its battery life is short and it didn’t manage to stay clear of some of the most powerful robot vacuum difficult mess we’ve put it through.

You can also create virtual barriers to ensure that your robot isn’t in certain areas or only clean certain kinds of flooring. It can also adjust its power settings according to the type of floor being cleaned and select the most effective cleaning method.
Contrary to other robot vacuums, the Q Revo can lift both mop heads while vacuuming to avoid staining your carpet fibres. It’s actually one of the very few vacuums that can do this.
The Q Revo’s suction capacity of 5500Pa can get rid of pet hair and dust specks when you clean. The all-rubber brush can be great at disentangling human and animal hair and also adapting to uneven surfaces.
The only issue with this device is that it takes an extended time to fill and empty both the clean and dirty tanks.
